Independent Alarm Company

In addition to installation, Independent Alarm Company offers monitoring for burglar and fire alarms.  Our monitoring is handled through U.S. Monitoring (Oklahoma License #890).  They are a UL Listed central station with certified operators located in Oklahoma City.  U.S. Monitoring operators are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

What is a "UL Listed central station"? 

According the Underwriters Laboratories website, a UL Listed central station is an alarm monitoring facility whose service meets UL Standards of Safety. UL requirements cover building structure, receiving and monitoring equipment, staffing, installation and ongoing service, and must be met at all times.

How monitoring works:

1.  The alarm is triggered. 

2.  U.S. Monitoring is notified immediately. 

3.  U.S. Monitoring will call the number listed on the contact sheet provided by the customer.

4.  If the customer is home and able to answer, the operator will ask a series of questions (including the password listed on the contact sheet) to determine the cause of the issue.

     a.  If there is a fire, the LOCAL fire department is contacted.

     b.  If there is an intruder/break-in, the LOCAL police department is contacted.

     c.  If there is a malfunction due to equipment error or damage, Independent Alarm Company is notified and will contact the customer to schedule a time to assess/make repairs.

     d.  If there is an accidental triggering of the alarm, nothing is done after password verification.

5.  If no answer, the proper LOCAL authorities will be notified in addition to the people provided as contacts by the customer.
